EXHIBITIONS "NATIVITY SCENES FROM THE WORLD IN VERONA"
INTERNATIONAL EXHIBITION OF CRIB IN ART AND TRACTION
from 20 November 2021 to 23 January 2022
Piazza BRA: The square of the Arena and the Comet Star
Unique in the world with an authentic international character
The most magical festival in the world, organized by the Verona Foundation for the Arena, consists of a rich exhibition of cribs and works of art inspired by the theme of the Nativity, from museums, collections, crib masters and enthusiasts from all over the world and, for this very reason, it offers a complete artistic picture of the intercontinental nativity scene tradition.Different every year, the exhibition continues to obtain great acclaim and recognition, almost underlining the character of multi-ethnicity and tolerance between peoples of different cultures.
The exhibition is in the Guinness Book of Records, with its 400 nativity scenes from all over the world, against a very large exhibition space. Its symbol is also in the Guinness Book of World Records, the Comet Star, conceived by Alfredo Troisi and designed by Rinaldo Olivieri. It is the largest archisculpture in the world that emerges from the Arena and falls in Piazza Brà, made of steel, 100 meters high, weighing 88 tons.
The Review arouses in the visitor a particular suggestion and emotion. The objects on display are part of two worlds, in a certain sense integrated: that of the show - full of lights and shadows, sounds and typical colors; and the museographic one - with large spaces and well-balanced lights. Taking into account these aspects of the Review, the setting is made with suggestive special effects, enhancing the individual interventions (nativity scenes of various origins) and giving due importance to the individual pieces, presented in the absence of their original context.
Thus was born an exhibition-show in which music, light and projections were created an atmosphere correlated with the objects on display in order to transform the visitor from a simple spectator into an actor between sculptures and things connected not only with the traditional nativity scene, but also with the art. The Review therefore becomes an extraordinary opportunity to visit Verona, the city of Love, of Romeo and Juliet, with its Christmas markets, its enchanting views, its poetry, its values. The exhibition is capable of thrilling young and old
